Renogy Rover Li 30 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller

We're pleased to introduce the newest addition to the Renogy Rover Series, the smart Li 30 Amp Rover MPPT Charge Controller. It can self-diagnose in the event of an error, and can be used with Renogy's Bluetooth Module. By pairing the Rover with the BT-1 and the DC Home app through Bluetooth you can monitor and adjust your solar system directly from your phone. This 30A charge controller is encapsulated with a sturdy case that protects against general wear and tear. It also includes an aluminum heat sink for heat dissipation.

The Renogy Rover Li 30 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller comes with the charger controller, remote temperature sensor, and optionally you can choose to buy it with the BT-1 Bluetooth module.

    KEY FEATURES

    • Automatically detects 12V or 24V DC system voltages. Compatible with various Deep Cycle battery options including Sealed, Gel, Flooded, and Lithium.
    • Any negative connection on the solar module, battery, and load can be safely earth-grounded as required.
    • Featuring innovative MPPT (maximum power point tracking) technology with high tracking efficiency up to 99%, maximizing the energy from solar panels to charge your system.
    • Four-stage charging (Bulk, Boost, Float, and Equalization) and temperature compensation increase your battery life and improve your system's performance.

With an MPPT controller, rather than regulating voltage, it actually behaves as a DC voltage converter. By doing this it essentially acts as a power regulator. This allows the controller to accept any input of power (within its voltage/current range) and convert it to the appropriate voltage for the battery bank. DC voltage converters typically have an efficiency above 90%, depending on the level at which the converter is run. Depending on the input, the efficiency can actually range from 90 to 99 percent. The output current of an MPPT controller will always produce more current flow to the battery than a PWM controller will. Since we know on average that the PWM controllers have an average efficiency of around 79 percent (max) and MPPT has an average efficiency of 94 percent, an MPPT will produce a current of about 1.2 that of the array current or 20 percent higher than the array. it maintains a higher efficiency and boosts the array current to more quickly charge the battery rather than wasting energy as heat. In addition, MPPT controller typically supports a higher voltage input which allows for the wiring of the panels in series. This can be advantageous in systems with long panel to-controller wire runs as it will overcome voltage losses in the wiring. MPPT controllers attempt to ensure maximum power conversion and for that reason are typically used in critical power applications and are essential for bigger systems. 500W solar power systems and more should use an MPPT charge controller.

Renogy’s Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controllers maximize the production output of your solar system. Rather than dissipating excess energy as heat, an MPPT controller monitors and regulates your system’s current. While this typically means a lower voltage yield, your overall output will increase as a result of current management and you can expect efficiency ratings of 90 percent or higher.
